Somewhere around adolescence, boys-vs.-girls playground wars see-saw in favour of the hairier gender. Never mind physiology, the playing field can always be levelled—provided you choose the right games. Like these four unisex sports.



Go-Kart Racing
“I just don’t think it’s a sport for women, and so far, it’s proved out,” Richard Petty infamously crowed. This, of course, was before Danica Patrick vroomed to victory at Montegi in 2008 and made him eat his words. With three women starting in this year’s Indy 500, chasing bumpers is now officially an equal opportunity sport.

Fencing
En garde, mon chéri! Duelling is sexy. Remember Antonio Banderas locking sabres with Catherine Zeta-Jones in The Mask of Zorro? Even if you’re not deft enough to make your partner’s frock drop to the floor, you can still lunge, parry and riposte until one of you scores 15 points.

Curling
When it comes to knocking rocks and hurrying hard, women are as adept as fellas. After all, obsessive-compulsive broom action and finding the button are skills that don’t exactly give guys a natural edge. Reserve a sheet at your local curling club and become bonspiel bons vivants.

Sailing
Sailing into the sunset may be a romantic cliché, but you can add some spice to the dependable panty dropper by skippering separate boats and racing for that buoy, or better yet, the abandoned island in the distance. Sure, brawn can enter the equation when harnessing the wind, but knowing your nautical ropes is more important than how fast you can pull them.
